September Fireside Chat

Dear TCLS Members,

As we finish the month of August, we end a wonderful summer of activity…but the cooler weather of fall will bring even more activities and fun!  We enjoyed many events in August as we finished our first series of Yoga classes taught by the professionals from Harmony Yoga. We began our Texas Hold ‘Em Tuesday with $1.00 beer and wine and complimentary snacks.  Burger Night was enjoyed by nearly 100 Members every Wednesday, and our second dive-in movie was a hit as we featured “Finding Nemo.”

Nearly 20 members “Kayaked the Oconee” and while there were a few bumps and bruises, most decided to “shoot the rapids”; some by choice and some by accident!  Even though Ms. Joni lost her shoes, she didn’t spill her Bloody Mary! Greg and Madison prepared a wonderful picnic lunch while we all told stories about our individual adventures.  We hosted our first TCLS Member-Member Golf Tournament. The weekend-long tournament was kicked off with our “Welcome to Vegas” casino party, which many hailed as one of the best events our Club has ever hosted.  Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Culpepper, the winners of one month of free dues. Jason and his team prepared and served another wonderful meal that was enjoyed by all.

Special congratulations to the championship team of Ryan Steelman and Brian Wooten, the overall winners of our first Member-Member Tournament.  David and the team in the Golf Shop were busy all month with multiple Nine and Dine Events, Complimentary Women and Junior Clinics, and several Monday golf tournaments.  Please take a moment to stop by the Golf Shop and thank David and his staff for all their hard work. While you are there, pick up your TCLS branded SWAG (Stuff We All Get)!  Show your TCLS pride with our leather coasters, college team poker chip markers, coffee cups, playing card sets, bottle & can koozies, and so much more. If you need something that we don’t have in stock, we will order it for you.  Make TCLS Golf Shop your first stop when holiday shopping for all your friends and family!

Unfortunately, Mother Nature prohibited our Back-to-School Carnival.  We will reschedule the Carnival in the fall. Please watch our Calendar for the make-up date!

We will kick-off September with our Labor Day BBQ by the pool on Monday, September 2, 2019.  Jason and his team will prepare a traditional summer holiday cookout feast. The pool and golf course will be open through 4:00 pm.  Ladies Night will be the first Wednesday in September. Burger Night Wednesday will be replaced with Taco Tuesday beginning Tuesday, September 10, and will run through the end of October.  Members can enjoy all-you-care-to-eat beef, chicken and seafood tacos with all the fixins’ and traditional sides for $6.95.

Author TS Dawson will be a guest at our first book club meeting to discuss her best-selling novel “The New Normal.”  There are still a few copies of her book available in the admin offices.

We will feature two dive-in movies in September and the pool will be open through October with our “swim at your own risk” policy in force.

David and his team will continue our Nine and Dine golf events as well as hosting complimentary Women and Junior Clinics.  Additionally, we will host our first night-time “Glow Ball” golf outing in September. My golf swing looks so much better in the dark.  The beverage cart will be available offering “Shots-in-the-Dark” and all your favorite golfing beverages!

We have recently renovated the tennis courts and will begin a fall tennis program.  Our own tennis professional, Steven Howard, will be offering complimentary Junior and Adult Clinics and private and group lessons at very reasonable rates. We have a full stock of loaner tennis and pickleball supplies that can be checked out of the Golf Shop.  Soon we will break out our new tennis ball launcher, the Tennis Tower! This training device launches up to 250 tennis balls at varying speeds and directions. It is a great tool to work on your game alone or in groups.

We will finish the month with our Ladies Day Out event as we visit Smith Farm for a gun safety class.  This event promises to be very educational and hopefully a lot of fun!

Finally, Matthew Fitzpatrick, our golf course superintendent, has our course in great shape.  Many of the bare areas from years past have seen promising growth. We have a new pump station ordered which will help us better direct our water resources next season and we have scheduled a bunker renovation beginning in February of 2020.

It truly is a great time to be a Member at The Club at Lake Sinclair.  Please invite your friends and colleagues to join us!

Sincerely,

Jeff
