December Fireside Chat

Dear TCLS Members,

December is here and we have a full calendar of club and community events celebrating the Christmas season.

Please be sure to mark your calendars so you can attend our 2nd Annual Member’s Christmas Party.  On Thursday, December 12, we will gather for great food and fellowship.  This is our opportunity to say thank you to our members for their friendship and loyalty throughout 2019.  We will be serving complimentary light hors d’oeuvres, mulled wine and Christmas cookies. Jon Scott will provide the entertainment while we share our holiday cheer.

Mark your calendars for our “Brunch with Santa” on Sunday, December 15, 2019.  Bring the children and grandchildren for pictures as they tell Santa what they want for Christmas!

We are also excited to announce our 2019 New Year’s Eve Party.  Come welcome the New Year at our 2nd Annual “Biggest Bash in Georgia”.  We have secured the services of the Mike Veal Band.  Mike Veal is a Milledgeville native known for his distinctive style of blues, rock, funk and fun.  Please make your reservations early to attend our celebration.

TCLS will begin a new holiday tradition this year: “The Pontoon Tour of Lights!”  As many of you know, the residents of Turtle Cove have a competition each year to see who can “Out-Griswold” the other with Christmas lights.  In years past, this display of holiday cheer has been only been viewed by the lucky few. This year, we will be hosting pontoon boat tours into Turtle Cove to view the lights and enjoy the holiday cheer.  Tours will leave from the Club beginning at 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm on the first three Tuesdays in December. Please RSVP to Renee at [email protected]

In the spirit of Christmas, the Club and Aubri Lanes have partnered together for “Operation Merry Christmas.”  We will serve as collection points for donations to benefit The Ocmulgee CASA*. As Christmas approaches, we ask that you share your blessings with the Children of Ocmulgee CASA in order to make their holiday brighter by donating a new, unused toys or any daily needs items for children 0 to 18 years of age.

We will once again be hosting our holiday version of “Parents Day Out”.  On the second and third Saturdays in December, we will be offering Kid’s Club from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to allow parents time to shop, wrap or simply nap!  Please make reservations as soon as possible through Renee at [email protected]

We would like to announce a new offering this holiday season: complimentary gift wrapping.  Drop your gifts off in the administrative office anytime Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Each gift will need a sticky note securely attached with your name and any information you may need to properly distribute the gift once wrapped.  We will wrap all gifts which can be picked up on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We will have complimentary hot cocoa and cookies available during pick up.  Come relax by the fire and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa.
We are excited to announce “Classic Movie Nights” to our ever-expanding social calendar.  For our December movie, we will be featuring the 1980’s classic, “A Christmas Story”. Movies and popcorn will be complimentary to all members.  We will set up an old-fashioned concession stand with $2.00 hot dogs, nachos and pizza slices. It is our goal to continue to offer affordable entertainment to our families, so please try to attend this fun event!  What a great way to kick off the Christmas break.

Our tennis courts have recently been completely renovated to include pickleball courts.  Electricity has been restored which will allow for night-time play and the use of our new ball launcher, the tennis tower.  Please stop by the Golf Shop to sign out loaner tennis and pickleball equipment or to purchase tennis balls.

David Franklin, our Head Golf Professional, and his team have the Golf Shop stocked with items great for your holiday gift list.  Please make the Golf Shop your first stop for all your Christmas gift needs. We have a large selection of TCLS swag. David continues to offer complimentary clinics for our Junior and Women golfers.  Please check our calendar for dates and times.

Due to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, we will host our next Ladies Day Out in January.

To reduce our carbon footprint while reducing unnecessary costs, we will be going paperless with our monthly billing process.  If you would like to continue to receive a paper statement delivered by snail mail, simply contact Renee in the administrative office.

Finally, I would like to ask each member to reach out to friends, family and co-workers regarding membership at the Club at Lake Sinclair.  TCLS members who refer a new member will receive a credit equal to 1 month’s dues for each referral that becomes a member! We have a tremendous product that will continue to improve with the addition of more members to enjoy all we have to offer.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you and our community.

Sincerely,

Jeff

*Ocmulgee CASA, Inc. serves the dependent children of the eight-county Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. CASA volunteers are assigned to an abuse or neglect case by a judge. They conduct thorough research on the background of the case, reviewing documents, interviewing everyone involved, including the child. They make reports to the court, recommending what they believe is best for the child, providing the judge with information that will help him in making an informed decision. CASAs can change an abused child’s life, and YOU can help!
