August 2023 Member Letter

Dear Friends & Members,

It is official; we have entered the "Dog Days of Summer". With forecasted temperatures nearing 100 degrees, there is no better place to be than cooling off at the pool bar with a frozen drink provided by Jason and his staff. August is quickly approaching which means the end of summer vacations as students of all ages go back to school. Don't blink, the holiday season will be upon us before we know it! There are so many exciting things happening at the Club, we will list them by category so they won't get lost in a long essay. Thanks to our entire Membership for your loyalty and friendship. We are truly blessed to have such a great family.

Sincerely,
Joni, Jeff & The TCLS Team

Weekly Sunday Brunch is Coming Back to TCLS!

In early 2023, after several attempts to increase usage, we felt it necessary to discontinue Sunday Brunch due to lack of participation. As our Membership has grown, tenured and new members have both asked about the return of Sunday Brunch. Jason and the Aubri Lanes Team have agree to resume weekly Sunday Brunch beginning Sunday, September 10, 2023. Aubri Lanes new Chef, Michael Matthews is excited to display his creativity to Club Members and their Guests. To ensure our ability to continue to offer Sunday Brunch on a weekly basis, we ask that our Members attend regularly. We currently enjoy 600 Member families. Our request is that each Member Family attend Brunch just once a month to enjoy great food and fellowship.

TCLS Achieves Goal of 600 Member Families!

As a thriving and growing Club, we regularly set goals and thresholds to ensure every Member Family has an opportunity to enjoy our exceptional Social and Athletic Programming. In an attempt to manage our growth while maintaining these standards, we set a "soft cap" of 600 Member Families. We are proud to announce that we achieved this goal in late June. Our two membership types are comprised of several sub-categories such as Junior, Golden and Non-Resident. We are evaluating use patterns of each membership type and sub-type to ensure we can continue to meet all Member expectations before allowing continued growth. We are currently accepting new member applicants for placement on a wait list. New Member candidates referred by current Members will be receive priority placement on the waitlist.

Golfing News for August

David and his team in The Golf Shop will not let 100+ degree temperatures keep our golfers from enjoying the best course conditions in recent memory. Our 9-hole golf league, "Ball Busters" is held every Tuesday evening in August. Our best golfers will be vying for bragging rights as we determine our Club Champions at every level at our Club Championship the weekend of August 3, 4 & 5th. Our annual Member-Member Tournament will be held on the weekend of August 18, 19 & 20th, beginning with Dueling Pianos on Friday, August 18th. A very special "thank you" to Scott Gower, MGA President and all the volunteers who help David improve the golf programming here at your Club! Please watch for our newest communication vehicle, TCLS Golfblog. Our blog will post golf related information such as real time course conditions and tournament information.

Everything that is Green & Growing

Many tenured Members have told us the course is in the best shape they have ever seen! Please make an opportunity to "thank" Darren Davenport, our Superintendent next time you see him! Darren and his crew have been working hard in the summer heat to create these conditions.

The new 13 tee complex has grown in nicely as we are about to begin the driving range renovation the first week of August. We will enlarge the teeing area, install new irrigation and re-sod with Tif-Tuf, a Bermuda grass known for resiliency to traffic and short regeneration cycle. Finally, a large driving mat will frame the entire rear of the range.

The team has been working on defining and grooming the greens approaches and surrounds for better aesthetics and playability. As the greens are rounding into great shape, we have decided to forgo the schedule Aerification in August, allowing for excellent conditions throughout the remainder of the 2023 growing season.

Club House / Pool Happenings

Our feature events in August include a Concert on the Lawn with headliner Logan Crosby on Friday, August 4th. Country music runs in Logan's family. The 22-year-old University of Georgia graduate is the cousin of country music veteran Jason Aldean. He has over 100,000 followers, and his videos have amassed over 2.8 million likes. His musical influences include Chris Stapleton, George Strait, and The Allman Brothers Band. This is a "don't miss" musical event!

Due to high demand, we will host the Andrews Brother Dueling Pianos for 2 consecutive shows on Friday and Saturday, August 18th & 19th. The Friday show will be part of our Member-Member Tournament and open to non-tournament Club Members. Saturday's show will be open to our Club Members and their invited non-member guests.

Weekly Family Value Meal, Ladies Night, Book Club, Texas Hold 'em, Little Chef's, Date Night, Dog Days, Dive-In Movies and Family Game Night are just a few of the many more events scheduled this month for your enjoyment. Jason and the Aubri Lanes team will be ready and available to serve your food and beverage needs at the pool through Labor Day. As most schools resume class in early August, the Pool Bar will attended only during peak periods. Our gate attendant will notify a server to assist during off peak periods.
