November Fireside Chat

Dear TCLS Members,

Ready or not, the Holiday Season is quickly approaching! I hope everyone makes an opportunity to spend time with friends and family to enjoy all of life’s blessings! We have many social activities schedule in November for all to enjoy!

Please make sure to “fall-back” and set your clocks back an hour on Sunday, November 3rd as we reach the end of Daylight Savings Time.

Taco Tuesday was a huge hit with children of all ages over the last few months, however many regular participants have been unable to attend due to conflicting obligations. One Tuesday November 5th we will feature a hearty soup, salad and sandwich buffet with a loaded baked potato bar appropriate for the cooler weather. Member feedback indicates that regular attendance at our Tuesday night buffets will be greatly diminished as we approach the Holiday Season, therefore we will discontinue our Tuesday night buffet after November 5th throughout the Holiday Season, resuming in January 2020.

Our twice monthly Texas Hold ‘em tournaments have been great fun. Card sharks of all ages and abilities have enjoyed incredible fellowship not to mention free beer and snacks on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Please come out and join us to see what you have been missing! Simply call me or text me at 478-290-9700 the morning of the tournament dates.

Steven Howard, our Bar Manager at Aubri Lanes is also a certified Tennis Instructor. Steve will be offering complimentary clinics for Juniors and Adults on Saturday, November 9th at 10:30 am and 11:30 am respectively. Feel free to contact Steven for individual lessons at 912-269-6599.

Steven Howard has served as Tennis Professional at Laurel Ridge Country Club and Associate Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach for the College of Coastal Georgia. Steven has been a USPTA certified Elite Tennis Professional for fourteen years. He is also a USTA certified referee and a USRSA certified racket technician. Steven began his tennis coaching career at Sea Island Resorts and Retreat Country Club. He has trained with former Davis Cup players from around the world. During his time at Coastal Georgia Steven coached several players to All American status.

Our tennis courts have recently been completely renovated to include Pickleball courts. Electric service will be restored soon which will allow for night-time play and the use of our new ball launcher, the “Tennis Tower”. We have loaner tennis rackets, pickle ball paddles and supplies for members use available in the Golf Shop.

David Franklin, our Head Golf Professional and his team have rescheduled our Glow Ball tournament for Friday, November 15th. We will begin the tournament at 6:00 pm due to the end of Daylight Savings Time. Please stop by the Golf Shop for all your Christmas Gift needs. We have a large selection of TCLS SWAG. David continues to offer complimentary clinics for our Junior and Women golfers. Please check our calendar for dates and times.

We are excited to announce “Classic Movie Nights” to our ever-expanding Social Calendar. For our first movie, we will be featuring the 1980’s classic, “Top Gun”. Movies and popcorn will be complimentary to all members. We will set up an old- fashioned concession stand with $2.00 hot dogs, nachos and pizza slices. It is our goal to continue to offer affordable entertainment to our families, so please try to attend this fun event!

Due to “Black Friday”, we will host our Ladies Day Out on the 3rd Friday of the month, November 22, 2019. Our focus for the November get-together will be professional cake decorating techniques.

On Wednesday, November 27, we will host our 2nd Annual “Thanksgiving Eve” Cocktail and Confection Concerto. Complimentary holiday specialty drinks, hot cocoa and pastries will be served in our Member’s Lounge with a roaring fire and music from our Baby Grand Piano. Please make plans to attend.

As in years past at the Old Milledgeville Country Club, we will offer the opportunity for our Members to participate in a “Gift Fund” for TCLS Employees. Renee will post a $20.00 charge per Membership to your November Club Statement. This “gift” will be distributed to all TCLS employees to help make their holiday a little brighter. Any Member wishing to “opt out” of the Employee Holiday Fund can easily do so by contacting Renee in the Admin Office.

To reduce our “carbon footprint” while reducing unnecessary costs, we will be going paperless with our monthly billing process. If you would like to continue to receive a paper statement delivered by “snail mail”, simply contact Renee in the Administrative Office.

The golf course is greener than it has been all summer! The 90-day drought appears to have ended as late October has finally brought us sub 90-degree temperatures and some badly needed precipitation. Matthew, our Golf Course Superintendent and his team have the course as clean as it has been in years. The putting greens are in great shape, running true and fast. Please make an opportunity to enjoy the cool weather and great conditions with your friends on the golf course!

Finally, I would like to ask each member to reach out to friends, family and co- workers regarding Membership at the Club at Lake Sinclair. TCLS Members who refer a new Member will receive credit equal to 1 month’s dues for each referral that becomes a member! We have a tremendous product that will continue to improve with the addition of more Members to enjoy all we have to offer.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you and our community.

Sincerely,
Jeff
