Aubri Lane's wins second place in the annual Golf Inc. Golden Forks awards for most improved restaurants.

When Ted and Joni purchased a struggling country club in 2016, it was as an investment in their hometown. As part of a $5 million transformation, the new owners rebranded the club and partnered with a successful local restaurant for food & beverage operations.

Aubri Lane's, named after the child of owner and executive chef Jason Medders, had been based in downtown Milledgeville for nearly 10 years. But in January 2018, the restaurant closed its downtown location and reopened the next day at the club.

The new space includes panoramic golf course views, a wine room, a wrap-around porch, a large sports bar and 6,000 square feet of event space.

Aubri Lane's also went from a five-day-a-week dinner spot to a six-to-seven-day lunch, dinner and catering operation. A more diverse and creative menu with lower prices encourages diners to visit more frequently.

Revenues are up more than 50 percent from Aubri Lane's previous best year.
